The Weekend Review

So...incredibly....tired!!

The weekend started early for me, as I took Thursday and Friday off of work.  Bill and I decided we were going to paint all the woodwork in our living and dining rooms as well as paint the walls.  Let's just say we grossly underestimated the amount of work that would be.

Thursday I was up early and took Madeleine to daycare at her normal time of 7am.  Part of the reason we took these days off was so we could work Madeleine-free.  Bill had originally taken these days off to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and watch some of March  Madness.  So, he left around 10am to meet up with some of his friends, and I kept working.  Our living room is sectioned off by a beam, so I worked on the first half.  By 2pm I had gotten two coats on, and I was exhausted.  Let me be clear, when I say we're paining the trim, that includes baseboards, crown molding, windows, and doors.  I was pretty proud of what I accomplished, but bummed that they would still need a third coat.  Bill got home shortly thereafter, and he went to work on coat number three.  I picked up Madeleine at 3pm (instead of her usualy 4:30pm), and fed her.  Honestly, I have no recollection of what we did the rest of the night.

Friday we were up early again and dropped off Madeleine.  With Bill helping we moved all the furniture that was on one half of the living room over to the other, and started work again.  By 2pm we had done three coats, and the living room trim was finished.  Again, the evening was a complete blur.  We didn't even have the energy for a movie.  I think we just watched HGTV all night.

Saturday I really really wanted to not paint, but we powered through and got all the dining room trim painted (again baseboards, crown molding, giant bay window, and doors).  There was absolutely no way I was up for paining the walls too by this point.  In the evening Bill went to a friend's to work on his motorcycle, and I vegged out on the couch the rest of the night.  Madeleine was so good while we worked.  She takes good naps, but they're not long (about 45 minutes).  Usually right when you get into whatever you wanted to do while she napped she wakes up.  She does take a lot of them though...about four a day.

Sunday, I told Bill I didn't want to do any work.  It was nice to relax, but that makes for a really long day.  I took a nice nap and watched a lot of nothing on t.v.  At 2:30 I finally had enough of t.v. and got a little work done.  I started to dress the guest room that we finished painting last week (pictures soon!!).  I made a bacon and goat cheese pizza for dinner.  YUM!  I took my shower, made my lunch and ironed my clothes for Monday morning.  In bed by 9:30pm.

Right now our entire dining room is in our living room.  We decided we're going to power through and paint the dining room walls tonight.  We need to put the house back together or I'm going to lose it.  I'll have lots of pictures to share this week of the semi-finished rooms.  It was so much work, but we are absolutely loving the white trim!!
