The Floor Project - Part 4

After three and half days they were finally done!  As you can see we decided to go with the "au natural" look.  It just looked so crisp and clean.  Plus, it hardly shows any dust or dog hair, which is wonderful as I haven't been the best housekeeper since Madeleine joined us.
We're really happy with the finished product.  One more project we can check off the list.  We still have some trim work that needs to be finished to fully blend the new spaces in the hallway and living room, and we desperately need to get a new front door.  It's coming along though.

Oh, and remember how I said my floors look great, but my couch does not?  Yeah, here's what it looks like.
What happened, you ask?  Well, to do the floors they had to remove the floor vents.  One particular vent had a slight gap between where the floor met the wall and there was no sub-floor underneath.  Do you see where this is going?  When they polyurethaned the floor some of it dripped through that gap into the basement.  Of all the possible things that could be directly under the gap...my couch coushion!!  I was so angry/sad.  Seriously, I was alone in the house when I discovered it and had a complete mini-breakdown.  The couch cost more than the entire floor job, and I was convinced the company would totally screw us.

Thankfully the flooring company was actually great about the whole thing.  Bill actually used to work with the manager there, and they were very apologetic and have so far taken care of everything great.  We tried to get it cleaned, as it was a water-based polyurethane and the flooring company thought it might come out.  It didn't.  Then we called Crate and Barrel, and they were able to order us a replacement cushion.  The flooring company took care of the cleaning and replacement bills.  It will take 10 weeks for the new cushion to come in.  I think it will all be okay, but I still have a fear that the dye-lots will be off or something.  For now I'm just waiting patiently with my fingers crossed.
